Time and time again, you have told the public that candidates and councillors exposed for saying and doing terrible things are just “bad apples”. You have repeatedly promised to fix the vetting process that let them through.
ITV’s undercover investigation filmed Reform UK councillors and candidates making appalling racist and misogynistic remarks. It also showed your head office being given information about candidates and choosing not to act.
Nigel Farage has claimed Reform has the best vetting of any political party in the UK. Yet in 2025, the party loosened its vetting rules and invited people who had previously failed to reapply. Farage himself has since admitted Reform’s vetting was “piss poor”.
Voters deserve to know how these candidates were approved to stand and whether concerns were raised before they were given the go-ahead.
We call on Reform UK to publish its full vetting process and the vetting files for all candidates vetted since the party began standing in elections.
This must include vetting records for the councillors and selected candidates featured in the investigation, including Alan Feeney, Dean Miller, Raymond Dunning, Martin Roberts, Chris Whelan, Jamie Campbell, Karl Lewis, George Madgwick, Ray Dent, Conrad Brown, Adam Parkins, David Kerr, Gavin Beales, Phil Carpenter, Alex Lomas, Ian Nilsson-Forrest, Chris Parry and Ian Cooper. Appropriate redactions should protect unrelated personal information.
Reform must:
- Tell the public what checks were carried out, what warnings were received and who approved the candidates.
- Reveal how many candidates were flagged by vetting but allowed to stand anyway, and how many who previously failed were later let through.
- Explain what action is now being taken.
Reform wants to govern the country. The public deserves to know how it chooses the people it puts forward to represent us.
Publish the files. Let voters see for themselves.
