Dear Rt Hon Ellie Reeves KC MP,
We, the undersigned, are writing to urge you to initiate a full and thorough investigation into the financial dealings of Stephen Lennon (better known as Tommy Robinson). Last week, Channel Four’s Dispatches, in collaboration with HOPE not hate, revealed evidence of serious wrongdoing, including fraudulent misrepresentation, acting unlawfully as a shadow director, tax evasion, failure to disclose loans to directors, bankruptcy fraud and perjury.
Lennon has secretly controlled several companies over the last nine years through which millions of pounds have been raised. Each company has failed to submit any accounts before closing and – to our knowledge – none have paid any tax. While Lennon’s name does not appear as a director on any of these companies, we have documentary evidence to show that he is acting as a shadow director and fully in control of the running of these companies.
The programme also shows how he raised money for particular people and causes and yet the money did not go to the intended recipient.
He has previously avoided financial scrutiny by claiming that he now lives in Spain. Again, we can categorically prove that the UK is his primary residence and have documentation to prove it.
Lennon declared himself bankrupt in March 2021 and later appeared in the High Court in June 2022 to answer questions relating to his bankruptcy. We can now conclusively prove through documentation that he repeatedly lied under oath.
The programme interviewed Max Hills, the former Director of Public Prosecution, who reviewed the material and call for a full investigation. We concur and so we are writing to you to initiate such an investigation.
No-one should be above the law.
